For the month of April, Rebecca will be posting petitionary prayers. Check out the details here. She has invited others to join her.
I was thinking about this today as I got up. One of the greatest burdens for me is for my children, specifically that they will desire the Word of God in their lives.
There are simply too many distractions for young people. They have so much time on their hands. They are materially well-off, many of them with jobs and ability to buy whatever they want. They are encouraged to seek entertainment and self-gratification. The message of Scripture, which at some point must tell them that they are to seek the good of others, and to seek to serve Christ, may seem like somewhat of a drag. Either that, or there will simply be a discouraging apathy for spiritual things.
My prayer for my children, regularly, is that they be drawn to know God's Word; to hear it, read it, study it, meditate upon it, and allow it to shape their hearts and minds. I pray for a lot of things for them, but this is probably the one that seems most urgent to me.
