Tuesday Tanks

No, not "tanks" like the ones that drive around on the desert. It's just my pitifual attempt at a play on words.

I mean Tuesday Thanks!!

Today I am thankful for algebra. Why is that? Because it forces me to use my noggin for something that is most definitely out of my "comfort zone."

My #2 son is using Saxon Algebra 1/2 this year, and some of the material is proving challenging for him. There was a day when he could put me to shame with how quickly he caught on to new concepts, but this year it is not so. We are learning about the Least Common Multiple of number sets, and this involves a lot of multiplying (obviously) of small numbers. Garrett likes to see if he can do tham all in his head, but as the numbers get larger, I resort to my old stand-by: a piece of paper and a pencil. He's discovered the benefit of that antiquated system of calculation.

This is the third go-round with Algebra. I think I've made progress!
